The Moon (Florance/Fox Allen)
Here I stand,
how small I feel,
just me, and the moon and the stars,
just me, and the moon and the stars,
my own little piece of the sky,
in you I confide
just me, and the moon and the stars
just me, and the moon and the stars

The Dress

The Dress (Fox Allen/Florance)
she kept it in the bottom draw
of the chest beside the bedroom door
wrapped in tissue of the purest white
on a bed of ancient oak it laid,
the dress that her grandmother had made
each stitch a link into the past
the colour of emerald green
it would have been a child's dream
with buttons that shone like stars at night
the green it spoke of open fields
of trickling streams and summers yield
of walking long amongst the creaking trees
the wooden gate the old stone floor
the path that led to the kitchen door
a garden filled with a heady scent
and in that dress there was more love
than she would ever know
in that dress were memories of one she'd barely known
all this she kept and so much more
in the chest beside the bedroom door
a secret life only she would know
Instrumental
she kept it in the bottom draw
of the chest beside the bedroom door
wrapped in tissue of the purest white

The Place

The Place (Fox Allen/Florance)
all our lives we gathered here,
a time a place for us to share
and the trace of you and me
still hangs in the air
Chorus
and in the mirror of those times
for whatever reason or rhyme
I'm so glad, so glad
your path led to mine
and you're walking next to me
as if time never changed a thing
and your breath and my breath
cuts through the cold
Chorus
so this place belongs to you and me
and our thoughts are woven in
to each and every sight,
to each and every sound
Chorus

The Sea

The Sea (Fox Allen/Florance)
She was so young just seventeen
when she slipped away to follow her dreams
undaunted by the warning signs
and those she loved and left behind
Chorus
she went away across the sea,
where the air was new and the grass was green
her native land she longed to leave,
she went away across the sea, across the sea
She found her place so far from home,
and a man whose love would keep her warm
and there the days they just drifted on,
like the river rolling slow and long
Chorus
Then came the day she said I do
she thought it strong she thought it true
a marriage born in two young hearts,
but many feared it would not last
Chorus
He only saw love in her eyes ,
so lost in all that he desired
but somewhere in her restless mind
was the one she loved, the one she left behind
she slipped away in the morning sun,
knowing that he would follow on
and memories of a dream now spent,
like autumn leaves falling as she left
she went away across the sea,
where the air was new and the grass was green
her native land where she longed to be with her first love,
across the sea, across the sea, across the sea

The Flower

The Flower (Florance/Fox Allen)
In the stillness of the morning
you lay by my side
wish I could read the thoughts
that filled your mind
the distance between us
nothing seemed to fill
and I wondered if you loved me still,
I wondered if you loved me still
went down to the river
where the water rushes by
let the beauty of this place
cleanse my troubled mind
looking for an answer
didn't know how you feel
and I wondered if you loved me still,
I wondered if you loved me still
took the petals of a flower,
laid them side by side
spoke the words that I'd learned
as a child
my sorrow drifted downstream
and all my fears were lost
to the sound of he loves me,
he loves me not
he loves me, he loves me not,
he loves me, he loves me not
he loves me, he loves me not,
he loves me
