Ever been somewhere you didn’t feel like coming home from?
Wanted to make a wonderful trip away last just that bit longer?
Know you are coming back to stuff that you don’t really want to do?
There are many songs about going home and not being able to get back quick enough, although it is wonderful to sleep in your own bed, there some trips you just don’t want to end.
Recently I was walking round Buttermere in the Lake District, it was an astonishingly beautiful day, the lake was like glass, the sun was shining and I got to thinking, if all I do for the rest of my life is walk around this lake, stopping for the odd cup of coffee and piece of cake, what more could I ever want for?
All good things must come to an end… on the Long Way Home you can eek out that last little slice of satisfaction.
“…nowhere that I’d rather be, than taking my time with you…”
lyrics
Let’s take the long way home
out on the coast road
and you can tell me stories of old
and I’ll close my eyes and picture that world
Chorus
With the wind in our hair
and the sun on our eyes
and the world firmly at our feet
and our forgotten tears
Let’s take the long way home
out on the coast road
and you’ll turn on the radio
and we’ll sing along to the songs we know
Chorus
With the wind in our hair
and the sun on our eyes
and the world firmly at our feet
and our forgotten tears
Instrumental
Let’s take the long way home
let’s take the long way home
Break
Nothin’ else to do, nothin’ we need to say
nowhere that I’d rather be than taking my time with you
so, baby please
Let’s take the long way home
out on the coast road
let’s take the long way home,
out on the coast road
long, long way home
long way home
let’s take,
let’s take the long way home
